Bob’s helped clients navigate the economic landscape for more than 25 years. He has deep knowledge of strategies and tools involving financial, insurance, investment and estate planning and how to integrate all of these elements into a comprehensive plan. As a result, his clients enjoy increased confidence that comes from knowing they and their loved ones are financially secure.

Bob understands that many people feel overwhelmed by the seemingly endless number of wealth management strategies and products, often to the point of paralyzed inaction. He has a keen ability is to absorb and simplify multi-faceted financial situations. Acting as a coach, he assists his clients to identify priorities and helps them to understand their options using easy-to-understand language. From here, they are able to create a realistic, achievable, long-term financial action plan with confidence.

What Bob loves most about his profession is discovering his clients’ unique financial circumstances and how he can add economic value to those circumstances. It’s like solving a puzzle and it keeps each day fresh and interesting.

Giving back to the community is important to Bob. He’s the past chair of the Planned Giving Committee of the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division and the founding chair of the Winnipeg branch of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP). Bob is also a regular contributor to the Money Make-overs column in the Winnipeg Free Press.

Because Bob’s career is mentally challenging and involves a lot of “desk time”, in his off hours he finds balance with lots of outdoor physical activities.

As a Certified Financial Planner, Ryan gets great satisfaction from simplifying the complex problems and challenges people face in finding solutions that truly works for their specific circumstance. For him, it’s all about sorting through the “clutter” and finding out what really matters to the client. He coaches clients on implementing the principles of wealth creation and minimizing their exposure to tax.

With a strong work ethic and analytical approach, Ryan believes that integrity and the firm’s independence is critical for people seeking to accumulate, preserve and enhance their wealth.

Ryan’s straightforward approach has been evidenced in the Money Makeovers column of the Winnipeg Free Press, where he has been a contributor.

Prior to entering the financial services industry in 2008, Ryan founded and operated a successful small business for 5 years. This gives him a unique perspective into the realities entrepeneurs and business owners face.

Floyd Murphy,  CFP, CLU CHFC

Floyd Murphy entered the Life Insurance business in 1971, and is a founding member of The Nakamun Group.

With an extensive background in the areas of Financial, Retirement and Estate Planning, Floyd offers a Comprehensive Planning Service. This service is of particular interest to the owners and key employees of private corporations, and to people at, or approaching, retirement.

Floyd is recognized as one of the leading authorities in the area of comprehensive planning. During the last 40 years, he has spoken to hundreds of public and industry audiences from coast to coast. He has made presentations to such diverse groups as the Estate Planning Council of Southwestern Ontario, Continuing Education schools in Banff, and Atlantic Canada, and the National Association of Insurance Women’s Regional Conference in Portland, Oregon.

Floyd has been actively involved in the community. He is Past President of the Telespeakers Toastmasters Club, Past President of the Vancouver Estate Planning Council, and Past President of the Denman Place Mall Merchants Association. He has served as a board member of Canada Place Corporation, and the Vancouver Foundation.

Greg Farries, BSC(Finance)

Committed to excellence in customer service, Greg Farries has been with the Nakamun Group since 1997 bringing specialized knowledge in investment and financial planning to the team. Greg earned his Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Finance from Arizona State University in 1985. He launched his career with The Herman Group, where he was an investment advisor for several years. Later he worked as a currency trader in the Oil & Gas Group of a major Canadian Bank, before joining The Nakamun Group. Greg successfully completed the Officer, Partner and Directors examination offered through the Investment Fund Institute of Canada as well as the Canadian Securities Course. Greg is branch manager for IPC Investment Corporation. “What makes the Nakamun Group unique is our team approach. We are aware that no individual has all the answers and we have gathered together specialized professionals in all areas of financial planning. The Nakamun Group is able to pool all of that knowledge and experience together for the best interests of our clients.”

J. Garry Keiller

Joining the Nakamun Group in 1995, Garry’s practice has evolved to specializing in the area of retirement income planning.  A much sought after speaker, Garry’s often conducts seminars for retiring employees of both private corporationgs and government agencies. His practical approach, sense of humour and expertise in the retirement planning area is appreciated by his clients. An accomplished guitarist, Garry is also well known in the Edmonton music circles.

Shauna Blackburn-Cook

Specializing in Group Employee Benefits,   Shauna is passionate about providing employee benefit packages that meet the needs of both employers and employees. The daughter of a founding member of the  Nakamun Group, Cecil Blackburn, Shauna took over the reigns of Nakamun Group Employee Benefits in 2008.  Shauna takes pride in providing personalized and custom benefit plan solutions for small to mid-size businesses.
